Showcasing its 12, 16, and 21 year-old whiskies.

 

Age is not just a number in the world of whisky, yet whisky is also more than just about age. Whisky adalah cerita sebuah proses di mana pengetahuan tentang metode, alat penyulingan, material penyimpanan berpadu dengan iklim area pembuatan hingga latar personal dari sang pendiri. For Aberfeldy, it includes a touh of alluvial gold for its every drop.

Sebagaimana namanya, Aberfeldy Distillery lahir di desa Aberfeldy dengan bentang lembah nan hijau di kaki perbukitan Centrals Highlands, Skotlandia. It’s just a stone’s throw from the brithplace of its founder, John Dewar who began the wishky production in 1898. Sumber air yang digunakan untuk pembuatan whisky Aberfeldy didapat dari Pitilie Burn, yakni sungai kecil yang melewati lokasi penyulingan menuju Sungai Tay. Air Pitilie Burn dikenal dengan kandungan alluvial gold. Inilah asal muasal julukan The Golden Dram.

Dalam sebuah dinner di The Ritz-Carlton Jakarta, Mega Kuningan, hal-hal tersebut diungkapkan secara kasual sembari tasting experience berlangsung dengan pairing menu. What we clearly perceived about the 12, 16, and 21 year-old Aberfeldy was the smooth honey notes in it. Seperti dijelaskan oleh Stephanie Macleod, Master Blender and Malt Master dari John Dewar & Sons dalam sebuah video presentasi, nuansa madu dari single malt Scotch whiskey ini dihasilkan dari masa fermentasi lebih lama yang kemudian disuling secara perlahan dalam Alembic copper pot stills buatan Forsyths dan disimpan di dalam oak casks.

“It has a beautiful honeyed sweetness. It has beautiful citrus notes. And as the whisky gets older, we have this marmalade note coming through, and when we add water, we get this little peach smoke that comes through at the end,” ucap Malt Master dari brand minuman di bawah naungan Bacardi itu. Keunikan notes dari rangkaian whisky permanen Aberfeldy ini juga berasal dari kombinasi casks yang digunakan. Our favourite 16 year old has its layer of complexity from the combination of oak casks for 16 year and aged in the Oloroso sherry casks. Sementara yang berusia 21 tahun adalah kombinasi dari ex-Sherry casks dan ex-Bourbon casks.

Mengenai kehadairan resmi Aberfeldy di Indonesia Navin Wazir, Country Manager of Bacardi Indonesia mengatakan, “We are excited to finally showcase Aberfeldy in Indonesia.
